March 8th is International Women’s Day. This day is set aside to celebrate the global social, economic, cultural, and political advancements of women. As we begin 2021, we are beginning to see progress in the fight against COVID-19. However, we would be doing this day an injustice if we did not remember all the sacrifices that women had to make over this past year and will continue to make on all frontiers. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted how women especially, had to adapt, pivot and power through challenges. This year’s theme #ChoosetoChallenge is particularly applicable given the many global challenges of this past year and how women are leading the way for a better tomorrow.
“A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge”.1
